6 students killed, 17 injured in South Cotabato school shooting, says DSWD
At least six students were killed and 17 others were injured following the school shooting in Banga, South Cotabato on Friday, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“Sa updated na ulat, anim na mag-aaral ang kumpirmadong nasawi at 17 ang lubhang sugatan. Magpapatuloy ang koordinasyon ng DSWD sa LGU ng Banga at paaralan para sa kaukulang suporta sa mga bata at pamilyang biktima ng insidente.
(In the updated report, six students are confirmed dead and 17 were seriously injured. The DSWD and the LGU of Banga and the school are continuously coordinating for the proper support to the children and the families of the victims of the incident.)
The DSWD said that its social workers are on the ground to provide psychological first aid, and psychosocial support.
The Banga Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said classes were immediately suspended in all levels in the municipality of Banga because of the incident.
The Department of Education (DepEd) expressed deep concern over the reported shooting incident at Banga National High School in Banga, South Cotabato.
“Our immediate priority is the safety and well-being of our learners, teachers, and school personnel. We are closely coordinating with the Schools Division Office, Regional Office, local authorities, and law enforcement to verify the circumstances and provide necessary assistance,” the DepEd said in a statement. —AOL, GMA News
