Man found dead with stab wounds in own house in Cavite; wife, 3 children are suspects
A 57-year-old man was found dead with stab wounds in his own house in Bacoor, Cavite.
Based on the intensity of the wounds and bruises on the face, police said the perpetrators seemed to have a huge grudge on the victim, according to a report by Dano Tingcungco on Unang Balita on Tuesday.
"May taga sa ulo. I'm not sure kung 'yung mata pasa talaga 'yon. Parang pinaghahampas muna," Police Lieutenant Colonel Alexie Desamito, Bacoor Police chief, said.
(There was a wound on the head. I'm not sure if the one on the eye is a bruise. It seemed the victim was hit first.)
Police said the wife and their three children are suspects in the crime, as per their investigation.
It is also possible that the crime was committed on Saturday as neighbors said they heard shouting and commotion coming from the victim's house, police added.
However, the incident was not reported then since the witness was told by the suspects not to say anything.
"Nasabihan siya na 'wala kang nakita'," Desamito said.
(The witness was told that he/she did not see anything.)
Asked who said so, Desamito said, "Silang mag-iina po. So dahil medyo natakot po, medyo nanahimik muna siya pansamantala."
(The mother and the children. So because the witness was afraid, he/she did not say a word first about the incident.)
Initial investigation revealed that the victim was always complaining, which could have led the suspects to bear a grudge against him.
"Vendor po kasi 'yung victim. He keeps on complaining nga daw dahil siya lang daw 'yung sumu-support sa family. Tapos 'yung wife madalas daw pong nagsusugal at nag-iinom at umuuwing lasing. Tapos wala daw pong dadatnan na pagkain," Desamito said.
(The victim was a vendor. He keeps on complaining that he was the only one supporting the family, then the wife would always be gambling, drinking alcohol, and would go home drunk. Then he would come home and there is no food.)
Investigation also showed that the victim was already stabbed by the wife before.
"Nag-50-50 daw, kaya lang, hindi naman daw nag-complain kasi kinonsider niya pa rin sila bilang pamilya. Pinatawad lang niya," Desamito said.
(The victim was critical, 50-50. But he did not complain since he still considered them his family. He just forgave them.)
Police said the children may have helped not just in the killing but in concealing the crime.
"'Yung isa po na daughter ay siya ang nautusan po na labhan 'yung mga duguan na clothing nu'ng wife. 'Yung wife ay natulog sa ibang bahay. Tapos parang pinalabas nila na lone occupant 'yung victim doon sa bahay," Desamito said.
(One of the daughters was directed to wash the blood-stained clothes of the wife. The wife slept over in another house. Then they made it appear that the victim was the lone occupant in the house.)
"'Yung isang anak po ang umamin. Sino ang sumaksak? 'Yung mother ang sinabi," she added.
(It was another child who admitted that it was the mother who stabbed the victim.)
The suspects will face charges of parricide. They are undergoing inquest proceedings.
The mother and three children are currently detained at the Bacoor Police headquarters.
