9 injured in fire at Buglasan Festival in Dumaguete
Nine people were injured after a fire broke out at one of the booths at the Buglasan Festival in Dumaguete City on Wednesday evening.
The booth belongs to Canlaon City.
A video by Leochelle Mansueto Borcelas showed people jumping from the booth.
In a statement, the Buglasan Festival Committee said the Bureau of Fire Protection received the call at 9:04 p.m. The fire was put under control at 9:09 p.m. and declared out by 9:15 p.m.
The nine injured people were brought to Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital and Silliman University Medical Center for treatment. They suffered abrasions and minor burns and are now in stable condition.
The committee said initial reports from the BFP showed "the cause of fire was electrical and accidental in nature."
Negros Oriental Governor Manuel Sagarbarria has ordered the Buglasan Safety and Security Committee to reinspect the booths to prevent similar incidents.
The committee said the provincial government assures the public, visitors, and participants that safety protocols are in place. —AOL, GMA News
