Cardinal Tagle leads Legazpi diocese 75th anniversary celebration
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Dean of the College of Cardinals, on Wednesday presided over the Solemn Jubilee Mass in Legazpi City, Albay as part of the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Canonical Erection of the Legazpi Diocese.
The concelebrants of the mass held at the Saint Gregory the Great Cathedral were Cardinal Orlando Quevedo, OMI, 14 bishops, one nuncio emeritus, one apostolic administrator, and about 250 priests.
"During the mass, the Pontifical Coronation of the venerated image of Nuestra Señora de Salvación, Patroness of the Diocese of Legazpi and Heavenly Queen of Albay, together with the image of the Infant Jesus, enshrined at the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Salvation in Joroan, Tiwi, took place," according to the Albay Provincial Information Office.
The Actus Coronationis Pontificalis, the official record attesting to the papal mandate for the pontifical coronation of the venerated image of Nuestra Señora de Salvación, was also signed by lay witnesses including Albay Governor Noel E. Rosal.
"Bishop Joel Z. Baylon, D.D., reports that more than 6,000 faithful attend the Mass, which forms part of the Diocese's Diamond Jubilee celebration," the information office said. — BAP, GMA News
