Bacoor Police log 53 complainants over dumped pet remains in Bulacan
At least 53 complainants have already reached out to the Bacoor City Police over the recent dumping of pet remains along a street in Bulacan that were initially handed over for cremation.
In a "24 Oras" report by Ian Cruz on Monday, the Bacoor City Police said they expect the number of complainants to rise further.
“Possibly we’re eyeing at least five to seven mga ganun… Ayaw ko pong pangalanan pa I’m sorry. ‘Yon kasi yung mga empleyado na nakaharap ng mga kuwan,” Bacoor, Cavite Chief of Police P/Lt.Col. Alexie Desamito said.
(Possibly, we’re eyeing at least five to seven... I’d rather not name them yet, I’m sorry. Those are the employees who dealt with the pet owners.)
Among the pet owners who filed complaints with the local police were Cecilia Garcia and Lemma Ignacio.
Both shared the pain they felt upon learning about the incident, emphasizing that they considered their pets family.
“Siyempre po sobrang sakit kasi para pong kapamilya na po namin—kapamilya na po talaga ang turing namin, parang tao po ‘yan na hindi lang basta-basta dapat ginanon lang,” Garcia said.
(Of course, it hurts because we treat them as part of the family—they are truly family to us. They are like human beings who shouldn't just be treated like that.)
“‘Di naman kami mayaman [pero] dahil lang sa pagmamahal namin sa aso inano talaga namin magpa-cremate. Masakit po hindi ho ako makatulog kasi iniisip ko lagi yung mga aso ko, mahal na mahal namin ‘yung aso namin. Duda na ho ako [sa laman ng urn] ayaw ko ho buksan kasi parang ayaw ko maniwalang hindi siya [yon],” Ignacio added.
(We aren't rich, but purely out of love for our dogs, we really saved up to have them cremated. It hurts so much, and I can't sleep because I keep thinking about my dogs—we loved them so much. Now, I have doubts about what's inside the urn. I don't even want to open it because I refuse to believe it might not be them.)
On Wednesday, the remains of over 20 dogs and cats sealed in plastic bags were discovered along a street in Barangay Minuyan Proper in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
The San Jose del Monte (SJDM) police have yet to release the results of their investigation, but several pet owners were able to recognize and claim the dumped bodies of their pets.
The pet owners said they had availed of the aftercare services of a single pet crematorium located in Bacoor.
In a video that went viral on social media, affected pet owners can be seen confronting the alleged owner of the pet crematorium. Several of them questioned what kind of ashes were actually handed to them if the remains of their pets were simply dumped.
Among the affected pet owners is Marvic Villoso, who expressed her determination to file formal charges against the pet crematorium owner.
“Wala 'tong urungan kahit yung offeran ka pa ng kahit magkano. Hindi kasi matutumbasan nung pera yung buhay eh na nawala, pumanaw, tapos hindi pa nakamit yung proper na paglalagak,” Villoso said.
(There’s no backing down from this, no matter how much money they offer. Money cannot compensate for a lost life, a pet that passed away, and then didn't even receive a proper final resting place.)
She shared how her dog, Hanny, changed her life, as she was the first of her 13 rescue dogs.
“Nakakagalit kasi malalaman namin na itinapon lang pala,” Villoso added.
(It makes us so angry to find out that they were just thrown away.)
Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla said the owner of the alleged pet crematorium is no longer cooperating with authorities.
“Hindi na nakikipagtulungan sa imbestigasyon ang may-ari. Magpasabi na lamang daw na hihintayin na lang niya ang kasong isasampa laban sa kaniya,” Revilla said.
(The owner is no longer cooperating with the investigation. They simply sent word that they will just await the charges to be filed against them.)
For its part, the Animal Kingdom Foundation stated that even if the crematorium in question merely outsourced its services, it still holds legal responsibility and accountability for the incident.
Two more sites discovered
Aside from the site discovered on Wednesday, authorities located two additional dumping grounds where pet remains were potentially discarded.
On November 13, 2025, eight sacks containing five dead dogs were found inside a septic tank in Barangay Minuyan 4, while another site was uncovered on May 19.
According to Jennifer Sorro, a paraveterinary worker at the SJDM City Veterinary Office, it is possible that all three sites are connected.
“Binigyan sila ng proper na libing kaya lang doon sa kalsada na lang para mabilis kaso iyon po pinakabakante na eh. Ang buong akala namin galing sa residente namin to kaya ang-ikot kami,” Soro said.
(We gave them a proper burial, but we had to do it right along the road for efficiency since that was the most vacant area available. We initially thought these came from our local residents, which is why we conducted an inspection.)
Earlier on Monday, the National Bureau of Investigation announced that it will also conduct its own investigation into the incident. — Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/BAP, GMA News
