BACOLOD CITY, Philippines - Energy Development Corporation (EDC) may soon implement its expansion project for a 30-megawatt geothermal exploration at the controversial Mt. Kanlaon's buffer zone. The members of Provincial Board (PB) have unanimously approved Wednesday a resolution granting their appeal for consideration on seven "undoable" conditions they earlier set when it approved EDC entry to the buffer zone in its May 21 session. Provincial Board Member Mae Javellana (4th District), chair of the board's committee on environment, authored the resolution with certain modifications, however. Vice Governor Emilio Yulo III said: "It's over! After (this) session, we will draft all these modifications and put them together into another memorandum of agreement (MOA), and by next week, we will approve another resolution authorizing Governor Isidro Zayco to sign a MOA on behalf of the provincial government with the EDC officials."
