Arroyo to inaugurate Cebu council hall renamed after her mother

QUEZON CITY, Philippines - The City Council Session Hall of the Cebu City Executive Building (CCEB) will be renamed after Evangelina Macaraeg-Macapagal, the late mother of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The President herself will preside over the formal inauguration of the hall on Thursday. The four-story CCEB used to be the three-story Cebu City Hall. It was renovated at a cost of P120 million, of which P15 million came from the Philippine Tourism Authority. Arroyo will lead the ribbon-cutting for the session hall, as well as the marker-unveiling for Plaza Sugbu, according to a Malacañanag statement. Plaza Sugbu, formerly known as Rizal Park, is in front of the CCEB. Arroyo will be assisted by Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña and Vice Mayor Michael Rama. The CCEB now houses the city's administration offices, a clinic, child-minding center, cafeteria, social hall, caucus room and conference room, aside from the session hall. - GMANews.TV
