MANILA, Philippines - Residents of Sibuyan Island in Romblon province will offer a Mass this Sunday for victims of the MV Princess of the Stars tragedy one year ago. Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported that the local government of San Fernando town in Sibuyan Island scheduled the Mass at 3 p.m. this Sunday. San Fernando town Mayor Nanette Tansingco said the Eucharistic celebration would be done near Ground Zero, where the ship capsized after being buffeted by strong waves caused by Typhoon Frank on June 21, 2008. Hundreds of passengers died in the tragedy, even as the bodies of hundreds more are still believed trapped inside the ship's wreckage. The tragedy prompted changes in the procedures the weather bureau and Coast Guard clear vessels for sea travel during typhoons. - GMANews.TV
