A 57-year-old man was pinned to death while at least four people were hurt after an FX utility vehicle they were riding collided with a passenger bus in Batangas province Sunday. Ibaan town police chief Senior Inspector Pablo Aguda Jr. said the FX vehicle heading south blew a tire at high speed and collided head-on with a passenger bus at the opposite lane. “Sobrang lakas ng pagtakbo niya at ang layo ng tinalsikan ng sasakyan... humigit kumulang sa 60 metro, lumabas na sa STAR Tollway (The FX vehicle was going so fast that when it hit the bus it was thrown 60 meters away, and out of the STAR Tollway)," Aguda said in an interview on dzBB radio. Police are questioning bus driver Gregorio Cortas and FX driver Danilo Cairo, whose father Gregorio, 57, died in the incident. Initial investigation showed the FX vehicle was going faster than 100 kph when one of its tires blew, and it swerved to the opposite lane where it collided with the Manila-bound bus. Red Cross teams rushed the four injured passengers of the FX to the Batangas Regional Hospital for treatment. No one on the bus was hurt, Aguda said. “Grabe po, ayon kay Danilo Cairo siya tumatakbo ng 100 kph nang pumutok ang goma, di niya naiwasan ang pasalubong na bus (It was really bad. Cairo said he was running at 100 kph when the tire blew and he could no longer avoid hitting the bus)," Aguda said. - GMANews.TV
