KIDAPAWAN CITY —Two people died and one was severely injured when the Suzuki raider motorcycle they were riding collided with an Izusu pickup truck in front of the Army’s checkpoint here on Saturday morning. SPO2 Raymundo Lam-an, Kidapawan PNP Traffic Division chief, identified the fatalities as Randy Carugda, a resident of Barangay (village) Felipe, Tantangan, South Cotabato; and Tating Lakayde, of Barangay Poblacion, Makilala, North Cotabato. The duo died on the spot due to severe head injuries, according to Lam-an. The victims' companion, identified as Tomacio Tomarse, remained in critical condition at the Kidapawan Doctor’s Hospital, Lam-an said. Lam-an said that an initial investigation showed that the victims were going along the national highway fronting the Task Force North Cotabato checkpoint when they collided with the approaching Isuzu pick up. The motorcycle was on the way to Makilala, North Cotabato when the accident took place. Lam-an said Army soldiers who were manning the checkpoint helped rescue the victims and rushed them to the hospital. - TJD, GMANews.TV
