A magnitude-4.6 quake rocked Mindanao shortly after midnight Wednesday, but there was no initial report of damage or casualty. The United States Geological Survey said the quake was recorded at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, with the epicenter about 175 km east-southeast of General Santos City in Mindanao. It said the epicenter was also 205 km southeast of Davao, or 1,170 km south-southeast of Manila. On Wednesday, a predawn magnitude-4.9 quake rocked parts of Mindanao. There was no report of damage or casualty, state seismologists said. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said last Wednesday's quake was recorded at 4:48 a.m., with the epicenter 90 km southwest of Cotabato City. But Phivolcs indicated the quake, which was tectonic in origin, may not have been felt because it was deep underground. — LBG, GMANews.TV
