Report: 2 men aboard SUV shot in Cavite predawn attack
Unidentified armed men shot and wounded two men aboard a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Imus town in Cavite province before dawn on Monday. Cavite provincial police spokeswoman Chief Inspector Milagros Sanchez said the incident occurred at 5:45 a.m. near a canal at Malagasang II village. "On board sila ng Fortuner nang pinaputukan sila (The victims were riding a Toyota Fortuner when they were shot)," Sanchez said in an interview on dzBB radio. The two victims were rushed to the University Medical Center Hospital in Dasmariñas town, she said. Sanchez cited sketchy reports identifying the driver as Lowell Mirambilla, and the passenger as a certain "Chan" of Ayala Alabang in Muntinlupa. The initial investigation showed that the gray Fortuner (with plate number ZGK-867) was passing near an open canal when unidentified armed men fired at it. Sanchez said it was not clear what the attackers' motive was. Asked if the incident was a case of carjacking, Sanchez said "we don't know." â VVP, GMANews.TV
