Police: 1 killed as truck crashes in Rizal province

A truck helper was killed after a 10-wheeler truck he was riding figured in an accident and turned turtle at the boundary of Quezon City and Rizal province Wednesday. The accident came a day after President Benigno Aquino III called on government agencies to ensure an accident-free Holy Week. In a radio interview, Police Officer 1 Francisco Quintao of the Rizal police said the incident occurred while the Rizal-bound truck was negotiating a zigzag road. "Yung 10-wheeler truck nawalan ng preno at tumaob, sa may zigzag. Galing ito Quezon City," Quintao said in an interview on dzBB radio. He did not immediately identify the fatality, who he described as the truck helper. Quintao said rescue workers could not immediately recover the helper's body because it was crushed under the truck. The driver managed to get out of the truck with a few scratches, he said adding, "Napatay ang pahinante, nadaganan."
