'Acetylene Gang' breaks into PSBank in Batangas

Members of the dreaded "Acetylene Gang" broke into a bank in Lipa CIty in Batangas province, with the intrusion discovered early Monday.

 

Batangas police chief Senior Superintendent Ramon Acio said a security guard alerted police after suspecting something was wrong when he found the door locked from the inside.

 

"Pumapasok ang guwardya, nalaman niya ang pinto locked from [the] inside," Acio said in an interview on dzBB radio.

 

To make sure potential hostages were not harmed, he said the police sought permission from the management of the affected bank - PSBank - to bring in Special Weapons and Tactics teams.

When the police teams entered the bank, they found no one inside, but there was a hole near the customer service area.

 

"Walang tao roon pero apparently may nakapasok. Ito ang minero kung tawagin, ang Acetylene Gang," he said.

 

He said they are still assessing if the gang took money or valuables from the bank. — RSJ, GMA News
