NDRRMC: Damage from Eastern Visayas quake rises to P133.658M

The damage to public infrastructure from a magnitude-7.6 quake that rattled Eastern Visayas last weekend rose to P133.658 million as of Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC said the estimated damage included infrastructure in Eastern Samar, Northern Samar and Tacloban City.
A breakdown of the P133,658,500 estimated damage, based on figures from the Departments of Education and Public Works and Highways, included:
- Eastern Samar: P12,8 million (DPWH) and P13,658,500 (DepEd)
- Northern Samar: P45 million
- Tacloban City: P62.2 million
The death toll remained at one, but the number of injured rose to 10. The injured were from Cagayan de Oro City and Eastern Samar.
As of Tuesday, the NDRRMC said a detour was devised for the Layog Bridge in San Julian in Eastern Samar, which was partially damaged and not passable.
Several roads and bridges in Caraga and Dinagat Island were partially damaged, it added.
The NDRRMC said that as of Wednesday, the quake had affected 5,839 families or 28,869 people in Surigao del Norte, Western Samar, and Eastern Samar. — RSJ, GMA News
