Two people drown in Boracay field trip
A field trip in world-famous Boracay Island resort turned tragic after a hotel and restaurant management (HRM) student drowned while swimming, police said Wednesday. The incident turned doubly tragic after a local tourist who tried to rescue the drowning student also died, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported. Citing an initial information from Western Visayas police head Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., the report described the student as a 20-year-old from Pasig City. It said the victim was a student at Arellano University and was on an educational field trip at a resort in Boracay when the incident happened. The report said the victim and fellow students were swimming when they encountered big waves, and the student began to drown. A local tourist initially identified only as Pedrosa tried to rescue the victim but also drowned, the report said. — LBG, GMA News
