DJ's fan burns down station in Butuan

Irked at being given what she thought was the runaround by the disc jockey she admired, an avid fan on Thursday burned down the local radio station in Mindanao where her crush works.

 

Police have taken into custody Rose Canquera, 19, after she burned down the Love Radio FM station in Butuan City, radio dzBB reported Thursday night.

 

Station manager Israel Palermo was quoted in the report as saying Canquera went to the station to look for DJ Jay “Benjie Parak” Abordo, whom she had admired.

 

When told the DJ was not around, she allegedly poured two liters of gas on the station premises and set it on fire, triggering the blaze.

 

The blaze damaged millions of pesos in radio equipment, and spread to at least five other establishments in the building where the radio station was located.

 

Canquera was taken into custody even as police and fire safety officials mull what charges to file against her. — ELR, GMA News
