Binga Dam in Benguet province kept one gate open Friday to let out excess water, even as Typhoon Nina (Prapiroon) remained near the Northern Luzon area.
As of 6 a.m., PAGASA said Binga kept one gate open at 0.3 meter. It added Binga had kept one gate open at 0.5 meter on Thursday.
The other major dams in Luzon kept their gates closed as of 6 a.m. Friday, PAGASA added.
PAGASA said Binga's water level was at 574.30 meters as of 6 a.m. Friday, lower than the 574.83 meters on Thursday.
This was below the 575-meter high level, it said.
As of early Friday, PAGASA said Typhoon Nina had intensified but was still too far to directly affect any part of the country.
PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez said they expect Typhoon Nina to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Monday. –KG, GMA News
