Police: PAO lawyer hurt in Batangas City shooting 

A Public Attorney's Office lawyer was shot and wounded in Batangas City early Wednesday, even as police search for the assailant.

 

Batangas City police head Superintendent Nicolas Torre III said the lawyer had just alighted from his car at 7:30 a.m. when he was shot at the parking area of the Bulwagan ng Katarungan compound.

 

"Dalawa ang daplis, sa likod ang tama. Stable condition na siya, binabantay natin sa ospital habang kino-conduct ang follow-up operation sa gunman," Torre said in an interview on dzBB radio.

 

PAO head Persida Acosta identified the injured lawyer as Arsenio Hernandez.

 

In a separate interview, Acosta appealed to police to get the assailant.

 

Citing an initial report, Torre said a lone gunman fired at Hernandez then fled.

 

"Ongoing ang follow-up (pero) sa motibo kakausapin namin si Atty. Hernandez," he said. — RSJ, GMA News
