1 dead, 2 hurt in road accident in Pampanga

A motorist was killed while a pedestrian was injured in a road accident early Friday in San Fernando City in Pampanga province.

 

San Fernando City police head Superintendent Marvin Mangune said the incident occurred at 6 a.m. at Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Barangay Dolores.

 

"Medyo mabilis (ang driver) at nabangga ang flower box sa shoulder ng avenue. May tinamaan na flower box, bumaligtad ang sasakyan, at may tinamaan na pedestrian (The driver was driving very fast and hit a flower box at the shoulder of the avenue. The vehicle hit a pedestrian and overturned)," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.

 

He initially identified the driver, who died in the accident, as Armand Velasco.

 

Citing initial reports reaching him, Mangune said Velasco was driving a Ford Escape that hit a flower box and a pedestrian then crashed.

 

The pedestrian, Rafael Cabrera, was rushed to a hospital where he is now recovering, Mangune said. — ELR, GMA News
