After near continuous bad weather caused heavy flooding, the Butuan City council approved a resolution placing Butuan under a state of calamity, according to a Tuesday report on Radyo Mo Nationwide. The  council approved the resolution Monday night. With the resolution, the city's officials expect to tap into their calamity fund to fund relief efforts for the affected residents. City Councilor Ryan Culima said the floods caused P19 million in damage to agriculture and P3 million in infrastructure. Since December, Mindanao and Visayas had been heavily affected by tropical cyclones Pablo (Bopha), Quinta (Wukong), and Auring (Sonamu), and Tropical Depression Bising. — DVM, GMA News
