A fire of undetermined origin razed a copra warehouse in Iligan City Monday afternoon, and may take about two days to completely put out, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Tuesday.

In its report, the NDRRMC said the fire started at the warehouse of Granexport Manufacturing Corp. at Barangay Kiwalan in Iligan City at 5:50 p.m.

"(The) incident involved the bodega of the said manufacturing company containing copra, which is highly flammable," it said.

While the fire was confined as of 8:20 p.m. Monday, the NDRRMC said it is "expected to be completely put out in two days' time."

The NDRRMC also said the Philippine National Police is assisting the firefighters by implementing crowd control measures.

It was the second fire in two weeks to last more than a day.

Last May 16, a fire razed the New Divisoria Mall in Manila, and was placed under control one day later. It was put out only this Monday. —KG, GMA News
