(Updated 10:52 p.m.) A Cebu Pacific aircraft skidded off the runway of the Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao on Sunday night, the airline's spokesperson said. No casualties have so far been reported. The airplane "veered off to the right side of the Davao International Airport runway during a heavy downpour," Cebu Pacific's spokesperson, Candice Iyog, said in a phone interview. All the passengers were safely disembarked, Iyog added, while their needs "are being taken care of." Jeffrey Wong, one of the aircraft's 165 passengers, said he saw their aircraft's engine burning seconds before it landed. "I was at the right side of the plane, and nakita ko pumutok 'yung engine. Hindi talaga maganda ang pagka-landing," Wong said in a phone interview. He added that all passengers were only asked to disembark the aircraft 30 minutes after he saw the engine burning. "Wala silang sinabi sa amin kung ano ang nangyayari," he said. Due to the mishap, nine flights to and from Davao have been cancelled, according to a tweet from the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC). These flights are: 5J-970, 5J-972, 5J-980, 5J-974 and PR-822 (Davao to Manila); and 5J-979, 5J-973, PR-821 and PR-823 (Manila to Davao). — DVM, GMA News
