Ten people were reported injured after two buses collided in San Pablo City in Laguna province Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Thursday.

In its 8 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said the accident occurred along Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Vicente in San Pablo City at 7:20 a.m.

The NDRRMC said the two buses involved included a P&O Transport bus driven by Dennis Amante, and a Raymond Transport bus driven by Mike Oporto.

"Based on the initial investigation, Raymond Bus was traversing towards Manila when it suddenly lost its brake and headed towards the opposite lane.  It then hit P&O Transport bus," the NDRRMC said.

Each bus was carrying five passengers at the time of the accident. Only two were initially identified as Mary Ann Lichaca, 16, and Jesiel Ann Lichaca, 20.

Oporto was detained at the San Pablo police station after the accident. — RSJ, GMA News
