PNoy declares Sept 3 as non-working day in Iriga

President Benigno Aquino on Wednesday declared September 3 as a special non-working day in Iriga City, Camarines Sur in celebration of its 45th founding anniversary.

 

Aquino made the declaration through Proclamation No. 637 signed by Executive Secretary Ochoa Jr. on August 22.  He said this will give the people of Iriga the "full opportunity" to participate in the celebration.

 

According to a Palace statement, Iriga was converted into a city by virtue of Republic Act 5261 on July 8, 1968 but it was only formally organized and inaugurated as the third city of the Bicol Region on September 3 on the same year. - VVP, GMA News
