NDRRMC: Damage from Santi valued at nearly P3B
The damage from Typhoon Santi neared the P3-billion mark as of Sunday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In its 6 p.m. update, the NDRRMC said the damage to agriculture in Aurora and Nueva Ecija alone amounted to P2,933,072,890. Of this, P2,773,042,890 was from crops, P2,530,000 from fisheries and P157,500,000 from high-value crops. The death toll remained at 13 while 32 were injured and seven are missing. At least 61,442 people or 289,438 people were affected in 351 villages in 50 towns and six cities in 11 provinces. Meanwhile, 2,542 families or 11,078 people are being sheltered in 65 evacuation centers. At least 5,100 houses were destroyed and 19,101 were damaged in Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Bulacan, Aurora and Pampanga. Flooding was still reported in parts of Pampanga even as four roads and six bridges were affected in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Cordillera. — DVM, GMA news
