The Department of Education said classes in northern Cebu areas devastated by Super Typhoon Yolanda will remain suspended until Nov. 15. According to a post by the state-run Philippine Information Agency, the DepEd suspended classes in north Cebu from Nov. 11 to 15. Meanwhile, a post in the DepEd's Facebook page said the elementary and secondary level class suspensions covered:

  • Sogod
  • Borbon
  • Tabogon
  • San Remigio
  • Medelin
  • Daan-bantayan
  • Madrilejos
  • Santa Fe
  • Bantayan
The suspensions will give schools "time to repair classrooms damaged by Typhoon Yolanda." Last Friday, Yolanda slammed into the northern part of Cebu, disrupting power and communications. Also, Cebu, along with Bohol, is still recovering from the effects of a magnitude-7.2 quake that hit Central Visayas last Oct. 15. Meanwhile, the PIA reported that Bohol remained without electricity and water services as of Saturday night. — DVM, GMA News
