6 killed, 5 hurt in Sorsogon bus-SUV collision

At least six people were killed while five others were injured as a bus and sport utility vehicle collide in Juban town in Sorsogon province Sunday.

Five of the fatalities had just come from a relief operation for victims of super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

The report cited initial information from the Philippine National Police in Bicol indicating the victims had come from a relief operation in Tacloban City in Leyte.

A separate report on Bombo Radyo said the accident occurred before dawn Sunday.

The radio report identified the victims as:

- bus driver Danilo Montefalcon
- SUV driver Rosalito Malig
- Alfredo Manansala
- Jaime Malabanan
- Levy Erasga
- Vicente Clarito

Also, it identified the injured as:

- Ronalyn Dosa
- Alvin Ruiz
- Angelika Pagasertonga
- Boy Navarosa
- Analiza Macapanas

Moreover, it said the SUV passengers came from Samar while the bus came from Manila.

On the other hand, the Bicol police said the collision occurred in Sitio Hoyon-Hoyon, Barangay Bacolod in Juban town at about 4:30 a.m.

According to Bicol PNP spokesperson Maria Luisa Calubaquib, the vehicles involved in the collision were Fortune Bus (UVB-943) and a Suzuki SUV (TGO-350).

The remains of the fatalities were brought to Hadoc Funeral in Juban for autopsy while the injured persons were brought to Sorsogon Provincial Hospital for treatment. — LBG, GMA News
