More than 3k stranded and over 800k affected by Agaton

Even after weakening into a low-pressure area Monday, Tropical Depression Agaton (Lingling) continued to disrupt life in parts of Visayas and Mindanao, leaving more than 3,000 stranded and affecting more than 800,000 people.
The Philippine Coast Guard said that as of 12 a.m. Tuesday, 3,427 passengers were stranded in ports in parts of Visayas and Bicol.
In a post on its social networking sites, the Coast Guard said the stranded passengers included:
- 375 in Cebu
- 2,670 in Catbalogan
- 40 in Maasin
- 80 in Pasacao
- 230 in Bulan
- 32 in Masbate
The Coast Guard also said 24 vessels, 546 rolling cargos and eight motor bancas were not allowed to sail.
800k affected
For its part, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the death toll remained at 42, with 65 injured and eight missing.
In its 6 a.m. update on Tuesday, the NDRRMC also said Agaton had affected 168,492 families or 809,686 people in 804 villages in 103 towns in 15 provinces.
Of these, 43,417 families or 203,022 people were displaced and are staying in 565 evacuation centers.
The NDRRMC also said Agaton destroyed 739 houses and damaged 1,278.
