Iloilo town to take a blast at sound system record – report


An Iloilo town is preparing to make some noise, a lot of it, to raise money for the super typhoon Yolanda relief effort.

Bombo Radyo reported that more than 70 sound systems are being readied for the "Linog sa Calinog Festival of Sounds" in Calinog town for Feb. 12, a bid for the Guinness World Record for the loudest sound created by sound systems.

According to Calinog Mayor Alex Centena, the sound festival aims to raise money for the acquisition of 36 motor bancas, which will be donated to the fishermen of Iloilo's fifth district who were affected by Yolanda.

The "Linog sa Calinog Festival of Sounds" also celebratess Centena's 52nd birthday.

Representatives from the Guinness World Records are to be present at the event to verify the record attempt. — DVM, GMA News
