24 bricks of suspected cocaine seized in Davao City

Some 24 blocks of suspected cocaine were found in a container van in Buhisan Tibungco in Davao City on Saturday.

According to a report from GMA News TV's News To Go, employees found the stash when a part of the van's ceiling fell.



Authorities said the 40-foot van was supposed to carry bananas to be shipped to South Korea or China.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was among those who responded on the scene.

Authorities said the square packages, which contained suspected high-grade cocaine, weighed more than one kilo each. They have not yet revealed the total value of the packages.

The packages were found inside a Maersk container van with body number MWCU-6051422 at Sumifru Wharf.
