Motorcycle-riding men gunned down before noon Thursday the chief of staff of a provincial board member of Bulacan province.

Police are tracking the men who shot dead the victim identified as Edwin Inocencio, GMA News stringer Rommel Ramos reported.

A separate dzBB report said Inocencio was the chief of staff of the province's First District board member Michael Fermin.

An initial investigation showed Inocencio was aboard his van when the gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on him.

The victim sustained seven gunshot wounds in the head and body.

One of the gunmen even approached Inocencio's body to make sure he was dead, the dzBB report said.

Recovered from the crime scene were shells from a cal-.45 pistol.

Meanwhile, police investigators are verifying information that politics could have been the motive for the killing.

Investigators cited information indicating the victim had received death threats before Thursday's shooting. — Joel Locsin with a report from Romel Ramos /LBG, GMA News
