Cavite police arrest one of province's most wanted

Cavite police arrested one of province's most wanted criminals on Friday.

Periano "Pian" Purificacion,28, was arrested by police and Special Weapons and Tactics personnel in a house in Bgy.Kaong, Silang, Cavite on the strength of an arrest warrant for multiple cases of robbery and murder, GMA News' “24 Oras” reported Monday evening.

Purificacion is the suspect in the killing of a police officer in Silang last year, as well as in the September 2008 killing of a cashier at a company where he used to work as a security guard.

Purificacion and his group are also suspects in a series of robberies in the province.

In an interview, Purificacion admitted killing the cashier but denied the other allegations.

“Isa lang po talaga ang nagawa ko, yung pagkapatay ko nga po dun sa security, na talaga pong pinagsisisihan ko na,” Purificacion said.

Police recovered a pistol, two magazines, and some bullets from Purificacion.



“Isolated kasi talaga yung area nila, so mahirap pasukin. We had two months na sinurveillance siya. Pinapamalita niya kasi talaga doon na hindi siya papahuli ng buhay, lalaban daw talaga siya, kaya nagsama tayo ng SWAT,” Cavite Police Intelligence Division chief Police Senior Supt. Roman Cardiño said.

Cavite Police Provincial Director Police Senior Supt. Joselito Esquivel said operations to arrest other members of Purificacion's robbery group are ongoing.

“Naka-strike kami ng blow dito sa grupo na 'to, but we will not rest, hahanapin pa rin namin yung mga kasamahan niya,” Esquivel said. — Elizabeth Marcelo/JDS, GMA News
