Justice for Anria: Facebook movement springs up for rape-slay victim
By TRISHA MACAS, GMA News
After the rape and murder of Anria Espiritu last week in Calumpit, Bulacan, Facebook users have been up in arms as they call for the justice for the victim.
The Facebook page "Justice for Anria Galang Espiritu" has already garnered more than 59,000 likes as of Tuesday evening since being set up last Saturday.
The "Justice for Anria Galang Espiritu" page said it was created by Espiritu's relatives and loved ones "to seek justice for her brutal death."
The page added: "We urge other facebook users and /or other people creating pages relating to this case to please delete or refrain from making unnecessary or irresponsible posts or creating pages that will tend to confuse the public."
At least two other Facebook pages have been established for the same cause, each with thousands of likes.

The people behind the "Justice for Anria Galang Espiritu" page explained in a post that they are not seeking publicity. Instead, they are encouraging those who know anything about Anria's death to come forward.
The Espiritu rape-slay has struck a chord with Facebook users even as her mother revealed in television interviews the victim's proclivity for using the social media site.
Gloria Espiritu said her daughter frequently posted photos on Facebook, something that she warned her daughter against doing since it might attract the attention of strangers.
Espiritu was last seen leaving for a night out last Wednesday night.
"Pinaalalahanan ko po siya (bago umalis noong Miyerkules). 'Yun po kasi, parang sosyal manamit. Sabi ko, bakit ka ganyang manamit? Uso na raw ang ganun," said Gloria.
The victim's family could no longer contact her past 2 a.m. on Thursday and her body was found later that day naked and with multiple stab wounds.
Her mother believes Anria knew her killers and that they are from the area.
"Sana ma-solve na ang imbestigasyon. Umaasa ako sa Panginoon na magkakaroon ng katarungan ang anak ko," she said.
