1 killed in 2-truck accident in Albay

A dump truck driver was killed after the vehicle he was driving crashed into the back of another dump truck in Santo Domingo town in Albay on Monday.

The truck driven by Edgar Gaveria, 52, crashed in the accident-prone area of Barangay Fidel Surtida after the truck's brakes failed, GMA Bicol's Maila Aycocho reported.

Before hitting the dump truck, Gaveria's vehicle also hit a parked motorcycle.

Such was the impact of the collision that the front of Gaveria's truck was heavily damaged, and his foot was pinned in the wreck.

Rescuers tried to rush Gaveria to a hospital but it was too late for doctors to save him.

Investigators are verifying information the truck was speeding and went out of control after Gaveria tried to hit the brakes. — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
