Schoolmates offer prayers, songs for students killed in Benguet road accident
Schoolmates and teachers offered prayers and songs for 12 students and a father who died after an Asian utility vehicle they were in fell into a ravine in Benguet province last Tuesday.
Many in the community of Buguias National High School mourned and still could not accept the deaths of the 13, GMA News' Vonne Aquino reported on GMA News TV's "News TV Live" on Friday.
Parents and classmates of the fatalities are still hurting from the tragedy, with one teacher saying she had initially felt they would still attend classes on Wednesday.
"Feeling ko pa kinabukasan babalik sila. Then the next day came then I realized it was not a dream, it's really true," said teacher Lourdes Quinisan.
For her part, Leonora Dalisdis, whose husband Efren was among the fatalities, said her husband was a good man who fulfilled his responsibilities as a father.
Dalisdis' son John Ray, 16, was one of the students who died in the accident.
Meanwhile, Buguias mayor Melchor Diclas said the local government has asked the Department of Public Works and Highways to put concrete barriers at the accident site.
This is to prevent a similar accident from occurring. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
