Cainta in state of calamity due to Mario; inmates at San Mateo town evacuated
Cainta town in Rizal province was placed under a state of calamity due to Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong), the Office of Civil Defense said Friday afternoon.
The OCD in Calabarzon made the announcement on its Twitter account Friday afternoon, quoting Mayor Kit Nieto.
Earlier Friday, Marikina City was placed under a state of calamity due to the heavy rain and floods from Mario.
On Thursday, Cebu City was placed under a state of calamity in the wake of damage caused by heavy rain from the trough or extension of Mario.
Meanwhile, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported some inmates of the San Mateo, Rizal municipal jail were evacuated due to floods and are now safe.
