Nearly a week after Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong) dumped rain on parts of the country including Metro Manila, several parts of Central Luzon remain flooded.
Among the flooded areas are 21 barangays in Calumpit in Bulacan, and several areas in Paniqui, Tarlac, GMA News' Susan Enriquez reported on Unang Balita.
In Calumpit, residents still had to use bancas for transportation due to the floods, which may take days before subsiding.
Also, many residents are still staying in evacuation centers in Paniqui, Tarlac. In Barangay Salomaque, residents could not get home as the floods there are still waist-deep.
Flooded as well are La Paz and Moncada towns, where flood waters are slow to subside reportedly because the Tarlac and Agno rivers are silted.
Meanwhile, in Bangued town in Abra province, a papaya plantation was destroyed by Mario.
The owner of the plantation felt bad because the papaya would have been harvested in the next two weeks.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's Wednesday update indicated at least 16 were killed while four are still missing. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
