50 houses destroyed in Davao fire; PAF chopper tapped to help
Some 50 houses were razed in a fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Panacan in Davao City at noon Tuesday.
A fire boat and a helicopter from the Philippine Air Force were tapped to help put out the fire, "Saksi" reported Tuesday night.
While no one was initially reported injured, the fire caused tension among residents who tried to save their belongings.
Investigators are verifying information the fire stemmed from children playing with matches.
The affected families were brought to the local gymnasium.
Monday fire
Meanwhile, some P1 million in property was destroyed in a fire that hit a residential area in Davao City on Monday.
More than 10 families were forced to stay in a tent set up at a vacant lot in Barangay 76-A, GMA Davao reported.
The fire destroyed at least 10 houses made mainly of light materials, with the residents managing to save only a few belongings.
An initial investigation showed an electrical short circuit may have caused the fire.
