A fire believed caused by an exploding refrigerator damaged part of the pre-departure area of the Naga City airport in Bicol early Wednesday.

The refrigerator was located in one of the food stalls at the airport premises, GMA Bicol's Avril Daja reported Thursday.

However, the fire was quickly put out with fire extinguishers before the airport's fire department could get to the area.

Citing information from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the report said the fire did not affect the airport's operations.

Arson investigators are still determining what caused the fire.

"Nag-suggest ako na tanggalin lahat ng saksak at i-turn off ang breakers, lalo na 'pag gabi, para hindi na ito maulit," said Naga airport facility in-charge Evelyn Trimidal. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
