Two policemen were found sprawled and lifeless on a notorious street in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan that local police call "Kalye Demonyo", a report on GMA's “24 Oras” said Thursday.

The victims were identified as P02 Arsil Nasir and P01 Freddie Manugay, who were both discovered by other police responding to a call by a concrened citizen at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to San Jose Del Monte Chief of Police P/Supt. Charlie Cabradilla, the two cops, who were found in civilian clothes, were likely shot by people involved in illegal gun and drug trade.

“Si P01 Nasir he is not assigned in that area. 'Yung isa naman although assigned siya diyan but he is considered not on duty,” Cabradilla said.

He added that they had to bring in 20 police officers to respond to the incident since it was considered a dangerous place.

“Nagresponde kami doon at tinawag pa namin yung augmentation ng Public Safety Company dahil nga yung area...hostile yung pinangyarihan,” he explained.

The response team was deployed to Kalye Demonyo after citizens tipped the police off that a series of gunshots had been heard in the area, which is reputed to be where many of those who work in the illegal gun and drug trade in the city live.
