Lightning eyed as cause of Davao City warehouse fire

A lightning strike is being eyed as the cause of a fire that razed a warehouse of plastic products in Davao City Wednesday evening.

 

The fire occurred in Barangay Bunawan in Davao City, GMA Davao reported Thursday on GMA News TV's "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon."

 

Warehouse manager Joy Abarca was quoted in the report as saying the fire caused great damage as the warehouse had stocks and plasticware from Manila.

 

One of the warehouse's employees recalled seeing smoke inside the warehouse, and a security guard at the compound recalled hearing what sounded like thunder before seeing the flames coming out of the structure.

 

"Kumidlat... Napakalakas... Ganoon na ang nangyari... May sunog na," said security guard Sammy Ismael.
