7 fall ill due to dengue in Urdaneta City
At least seven people in a neighborhood in Urdaneta City in Pangasinan fell ill last week due to dengue, which has become a year-round threat, a television report said Thursday.
Two children were the first to fall ill, GMA Dagupan's Lilian Tiburcio reported on GMA News TV's "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon."
"Sila, mga sumunod na araw, meron na naman dito sa amin, mga kapitbahay namin, sunod-sunod na," said their mother.
One of the patients needed four bags of blood after dengue reached Stage 4.
As of Thursday, three have recovered while four are still undergoing treatment and under observation.
The City Health Office found the residents did not clean their surroundings thoroughly.
CHO inspectors found old, unused tires that could be breeding places for dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
With the finding, the CHO advised residents to remove the tires, and set up tarpaulins listing symptoms of dengue for residents' proper guidance.
If dengue cases persist in the area, the CHO will resort to fogging operations. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
