With the holiday rush expected to peak in the coming weeks, a new scam is targeting taxi drivers in Cebu City.

A taxi driver has sought help from police after falling prey to the scam on Thursday, GMA Cebu's Jun Veliganio reported.

Taxi driver Adriano Parba said two passengers flagged down his cab at a private hospital in the city and asked to be brought to the Carbon Market.

He said the two passengers claimed they were to get an order of dumplings that they would sell to the hospital.

Upon reaching the market, the suspects "borrowed" P550 from Parba, supposedly to pay for the dumplings. The suspects never returned.

— Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
