Work in government offices in Mandaue City in Cebu was suspended Friday due to the threat of bad weather conditions from Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit).
The Cebu provincial government said Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes also asked private companies to let their workers go home early Friday.
On Thursday, several areas in Cebu suspended classes for Friday due to the threat of Ruby.
Ruby entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 3 a.m. Thursday.
As of Friday, PAGASA said Ruby could make landfall over Eastern Visayas during the weekend.
At least 34 areas have been placed under storm signals, PAGASA said Friday.
