NGCP: Typhoon Ruby trips 10 power lines in Luzon, Visayas

At least 10 lines of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines in Luzon and Visayas had been affected by Ruby as of Saturday night, with only one line restored so far.
 
In its 11 p.m. update, the NGCP said the typhoon has downed the following lines:
 
 
  • Pitogo-Mulanay 69-kV line, covering Mulanay, Macalelon and Catanauan in Quezon, out since 9:42 a.m. Saturday
  • Daraga-Sorsogon 69-kV line, Sorsogo province, out since 7:53 p.m.
  • Palanas-Cara-Allen 69-kV line, covering Allen, Victoria, San Isidro and Lavezares in Northern Samar, out since 12:12 p.m.
  • Paranas-Borongan 69-kV line, covering Sulat, Taft, Can-avid, Dolores, Oras, San Policarpo, Arteche, Jipapad,
  • Maslog, Borongan, San Julian, Maydolong, Llorente, Salcedo,
  • Guiuan, MacArthur, Hernani, Quinapundan, Giporlos, Balangiga, Lawaan in Eastern Samar, out since 11:04 a.m.
  • Sara-Balasan 69-kV Line, parts of Iloilo, out since 1:44 p.m.
  • Babatgnon-Arado 69-kV Line, covering Tacoban City, Palo, Babatgnon, out since 2:50 p.m.
  • Palanas Cara-Catarman 69-kV Line, covering Catubig, Gamas, Lao-ang, Pambuhan, Palapag, Las Navas, Bobon, Catarman, Mondragon, San Roque, Rosario, San Jose, Lope de Vega in Northern Samar, out since 2:36 p.m.
  • Nasaug-San Isidro-St. Bernard covering Sogod, Bontoc, Libagon, Silago, Lio-an, St. Bernard, San Juan, Anahawan, Hinundayan, Hinunangan, San Francisco, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, out since 3:19 p.m.
  • Milagro-Tunga, Tunga, Leyte, restored at 7:36 p.m.
  • Panit-an-Sara 69-kV line, covering Sara, Balasan, Estancia, out since 9:28 p.m.
 
Also affected were the Naga-Labo 230-kV Line 2, Hilongos-Baybay line, Gandara Feeder 69-kV line, and the HVDC Ormoc-Cabacungan 350-kV line.
 
"Necessary preparations and precautions have been implemented to minimize the impact of the storm on NGCP operation and facilities. These include ensuring the availability of hardware materials and supplies necessary for the repair of damages to facilities, as well as the positioning of line crews in strategic areas, to facilitate immediate restoration work," NGCP said. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
