A woman in Naga City in Camarines Sur now faces an investigation over allegations she maltreated her stepchildren aged 8 and 9.
This was after her stepchildren, accompanied by a concerned citizen, lodged a complaint with the local police, GMA Bicol reported Friday.
The minors said the stepmother would hurt and badmouth them, such that they no longer wanted to go home.
But a concerned citizen helped them to bring their case to the police.
For his part, the children's father said he was not aware of his live-in partner's actions.
He said he has arranged for the children to temporarily live with their uncle.
The stepmother declined to comment on the accusations against her.
While both sides eventually reached a settlement, police warned the woman she may face charges for violating Republic Act 7610. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
