A contingent of police personnel from Pangasinan province on Saturday evening left for Manila to take part in security preparations for Pope Francis’ visit.
The police from Pangasinan are to stay in Metro Manila for 10 days to augment security for the papal visit, GMA Dagupan’s Lilian Tiburcio reported Sunday.
Many of them were excited and happy to be part of the security for the pope, who is to arrive on Jan. 15.
Pope Francis will stay in the Philippines until Jan. 19. During his stay, he will take part in activities in Metro Manila and in Leyte.
Last week, GMA News TV's "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon" reported the Ilocos regional police will send at least 1,500 personnel to Manila to help secure Pope Francis.
These include 400 from Pangasinan province alone. Many of the Pangasinan police will come from the Provincial Public Safety Company. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
