2 people die in Cagayan de Oro City fire
At least two people died in the fire that destroyed Cagayan de Oro's Hall of Justice last night, according to a report on GMA News TV's “Balitanghali” on Saturday.
Bureau of Fire Protection personnel are still verifying the identities of the victims but said the fatalities might be a court staff and a security guard, the report added.
Moreover, it said the BFP noted the security guard rushed to the second floor of the burning building to rescue the trapped court staff.
The fire started on the second floor of the Hall of Justice building around 7 p.m. on Friday.
It was declared fire out at about 2 a.m., but the fire flared again after an undetermined amount of explosive materials stored in the building blew off.
Damage to properties is pegged at P29 million.
