Sun.Star Baguio:Domogan, Bautista, Fariñas take leads in Baguio


Sun.Star Baguio:: INCUMBENT Baguio City Representative Mauricio Domogan, Acting Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. and former Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas topped the partial official count of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) at the Baguio Convention Center early Tuesday evening. With Domogan of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) leading the local congressional race with 6,412 votes, coming in at second place was Councilor Jose Molintas of the United Opposition (UNO) with 5,223, independent candidate Ramon Kindipan with a distant 63 and Thomas Tayengco of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) with 50 votes. In the mayoralty race, Bautista of Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) kept a safe lead with 3,697 votes after 16 percent of results from 118 out of the 745 voting precincts in the city were already counted as of 6 p.m., followed by suspended Mayor Braulio Yaranon of the UNO at second with 2,347, Acting Vice Mayor Leandro Yangot Jr. of the Liberal Party (LP)- 2,161, former Mayor Bernardo Vergara of Lakas-CMD and the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) at fourth with 2,033, former Councilor Elmo Nevada of the People’s Reform Party (PRP) a distant fifth with 804, former Mayor Ramon Labo Jr. of the KBL - 463 and former city administrator Virgilio Bautista at seventh place with 116 votes, independent candidate Guillermo Hernandez at eighth with 43 and another independent Felipe Ramos at ninth place with 10 votes. In the vice mayoralty contest, Fariñas of Kampi and the Nacionalista Party (NP) took the lead with 2,930 votes, followed by former Councilor Roberto Ortega of the PRP at a close second with 2,700, Councilor Faustino Olowan of the People’s Democratic Socialist Party (PDSP) - 2,613, Councilor Edilberto Tenefrancia of Lakas-CMD - 2,159, Councilor Elmer Datuin of the LP - 1,174 and Antolin Mascareñas of the KBL at sixth with 67 votes. Leading the competition for the 12 City Council seats is independent reelectionist Councilor Rocky Thomas Balisong with 5,467 votes, followed by another independent reelectionist Galo Weygan with 5,390 votes, former Vice Mayor Betty Lourdes Tabanda of Kampi and NP - 5,348; independent reelectionist Perlita Chan-Rondez - 5,191, former Councilor Nicasio Aliping Jr. of Lakas-CMD - 5,148, Councilor Antonio Tabora Jr. of NP - 4,781, reelectionist Councilor Erdolfo Balajadia of Lakas-CMD and NPC at seventh with 4,548 votes, former independent Councilor Richard Cariño - 4,143, former Councilor Nicasio Palaganas of Lakas-CMD and NPC - 4,069, Isabelo Cosalan Jr. of the UNO - 4,002, Elaine Sembrano of the UNO and PDSP - 3,679 and Julius Mandapat of Lakas-CMD with 3,495 votes. Trailing them were Fred Bagbagen of the UNO and Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) - 3,463, followed by the late former Councilor Edgardo Bilog of Kampi and NP - 3,462, independent Michael Fianza - 2,678, independent Richard Zarate - 2,526, Roi David of Lakas-CMD - 2,377, former Vice Mayor Reynaldo Cortes of PRP - 2,376, former Cordillera Executive Board chairman Gaspar Cayat - 2,244, Pio Velasco of Lakas-CMD and NPC - 2,119, former Secretary to the Mayor Jose Taguba of Lakas-CMD - 2,085, Perfecto Itliong Jr. of Kampi and NP - 2,034, Barangay Chairman Albert Della - 1,925; Joseph Marrero of the UNO and PDSP - 1,869, PB Josephine Mariano of Lakas-CMD and NPC - 1,803, Ramon Alonso of PRP - 1,727, Jogin Tamayo of Kampi and NP at 27th - 1,705, Jeannette Ribaya-Cawiding of LP - 1,596, City Council Secretary Ronaldo Perez of Kampi and NP - 1,510, Joaquin Cariño of the UNO - 1,470, Alan Antonio Mazo of the UNO and PDSP - 1,457, Seigfreid Mondiguing of PRP - 1,418, PB Helen Miranda of the UNO and PDSP - 1,384, Edison Ang Yu of Lakas-CMD - 1,242, PB Edita Ibarra of Lakas-CMD - 1,238, independent Oswaldo Parado at 36th with 1,188 votes; Patrick Dangatan of the LP - 1,098, Milandre Rusgal of the PRP - 1,019, former Secretary to the Mayor Rodolfo Asiatico of the PRP - 973; Allan Garcia of the UNO - 849, Bruce Bacasen of the LP - 636, Basilio Binay-an of the LP - 632, Odell Aquino of the LP - 559, Reynaldo Diaz of the LP - 440, independent Edilberto Gapuz - 417, Julio Castillo Jr. of the LP - 270, independent Romeo Gonzales - 227, independent Jerry Mendoza - 206, Romeo Marlangaue of the KBL - 101 and independent Valentino Saculles at 50th place with 89 votes.
